Induction Hobs

Induction hobs represent the latest technological advancement within the broad family of so-called "stoves."

These appliances are designed to reduce and optimise cooking times. As with all equipment, it is essential to consider some key features before making a purchase, such as the power output, size and weight, etc.

Induction Hobs

Although powered by electricity, induction hobs should not be confused with standard electric hotplates, as heat is generated through a magnetic field created by an electrical inductor.

This magnetic field only affects objects sensitive to electromagnetic waves, meaning that only equipment such as pots, pans, and trays with ferromagnetic bases will be compatible. For this reason, it is crucial to always check the compatibility of the cookware or container you plan to purchase.

A major advantage is the almost complete elimination of burn risks, offering greater safety in use. Furthermore, induction cooking surfaces drastically reduce heat dispersion (to about 10%) compared to traditional gas or electric hobs.

The power output of induction hobs is adjustable, typically starting from 2 kW and extending to more powerful models with multiple zones that can reach 10 kW or more. Today, thanks to integrated power selectors available in most induction hobs, it is possible to use an induction hob even with a standard 3 kW household meter.
